Storyline:
Based on the true story of the greatest treasure hunt in history, The Monuments Men is an action drama focusing on an unlikely World War II platoon, tasked by FDR with going into Germany to rescue artistic masterpieces from Nazi thieves and returning them to their rightful owners. It would be an impossible mission: with the art trapped behind enemy lines, and with the German army under orders to destroy everything as the Reich fell, how could these guys - seven museum directors, curators, and art historians, all more familiar with Michelangelo than the M-1 - possibly hope to succeed? But as the Monuments Men, as they were called, found themselves in a race against time to avoid the destruction of 1000 years of culture, they would risk their lives to protect and defend mankind's greatest achievements.

Seventy years later after the efforts of these men and without their efforts and this film how many people would ever have known. A question apparently asked by President Harry Truman was "...after 30 years who will know of this mission's importance..." I'm glad that I can say that after 40 more years, I am proud they did this amazing mission.

Thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I think adding a few more minutes of character development might have helped but overall it presented a great story true to historical fact. Superb actors and location shots that seemed true to the storyline. Go to see it!

Very entertaining storyline. I thought the characters were well played. Cate Blanchet, as always is an incredible actor. Bill Murray, who I questioned in the beginning, why him, acted well along side George Clooney and Matt Damon. I Liked it very much and was entertained throughout the whole movie. If you want entertainment, then go see it. If you are one of those "I'm a critic type" then you more than likely will not like it. I liked it. I was entertained, it was well worth the admission.
